IPL 2026: KKR Sets Challenging Target of 221 Runs Against MI

Mumbai, March 29: The second match of IPL 2026 is taking place at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, featuring the Mumbai Indians (MI) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Batting first, KKR has set a formidable target of 221 runs for MI.

MI captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and opted to bowl first. KKR got off to a blistering start, thanks to Finn Allen and Ajinkya Rahane, who put together a partnership of 69 runs in just 5.2 overs for the first wicket. Allen was dismissed after scoring 37 runs off 17 balls, hitting 6 fours and 2 sixes.

Following Allen’s departure, Rahane and Cameron Green added 40 runs for the second wicket in 21 balls. Green was out for 18 runs off 10 balls when the team’s score was 109. Rahane then partnered with Ankit Raghuwanshi for 36 runs, pushing the score to 145. Rahane played a brilliant innings, scoring 67 runs off 40 balls, including 5 sixes and 3 fours, before being dismissed.

After Rahane’s wicket, Raghuwanshi and Rinku Singh stabilized the innings, contributing 60 runs for the fourth wicket in 30 balls, bringing the score to 205. Raghuwanshi scored 51 runs off 29 balls, hitting 2 sixes and 6 fours, before getting out. Rinku Singh added 33 runs off 21 balls with 4 fours, while Ramandeep Singh remained unbeaten with 4 runs off 4 balls. KKR finished their innings at 220 runs for the loss of 4 wickets.

For MI, Shardul Thakur was the standout bowler, taking 3 wickets for 39 runs in 4 overs, while Hardik Pandya claimed 1 wicket.
