New Delhi, April 4: The Delhi Capitals (DC) secured a remarkable victory against the Mumbai Indians (MI) by 6 wickets in the eighth match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. This win marks DC’s 17th victory against MI in their 38 encounters. With this achievement, the Delhi Capitals have climbed to a joint second place in the list of teams with the most wins against MI. The Punjab Kings also share this record, having won 17 out of their 34 matches against MI.

Leading the list is the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), who have claimed 18 wins out of 39 matches against the Mumbai Indians. Following them are the Royal Challengers Bangalore, with 15 wins from 34 matches, and the Rajasthan Royals, who have secured 14 wins from 30 matches, ranking third and fourth respectively.

On Saturday, after losing the toss at Arun Jaitley Stadium, the Mumbai Indians batted first, scoring 162 runs while losing 6 wickets. Rohit Sharma was the top scorer for MI, making 35 runs off 26 balls, while captain Suryakumar Yadav contributed 51 runs from 36 balls, including 2 sixes and 3 fours.

From the opposition, Mukesh Kumar took 2 wickets, while Lungi Ngidi, Axar Patel, Vipraj Nigam, and T Natarajan each claimed 1 wicket.

In response, the Delhi Capitals chased down the target in just 18.1 overs. Pathum Nissanka scored 44 runs off 30 balls with 7 boundaries, while Sameer Rizvi dazzled with 90 runs off 51 balls, hitting 7 sixes and 7 fours. David Miller remained unbeaten with 21 runs.

With two wins from their initial matches, the Delhi Capitals now sit at the top of the IPL 2026 points table, boasting a net run rate of +1.170. Meanwhile, the Mumbai Indians, with one win and one loss, are in sixth place with a net run rate of -0.206.
