Lucknow, April 12: The 19th match of IPL 2026 is taking place at the Ekana Cricket Stadium between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Gujarat Titans (GT). GT captain Shubman Gill won the toss and chose to bowl first.
After winning the toss, Gill stated, “We will bowl first. Gaining two points from the last match has boosted our confidence. We want to play better cricket and ensure the match doesn’t go to the last over. Consistency is crucial in a long tournament like IPL. After 14 matches, the most consistent team will win the tournament. We are playing with the same playing eleven as last match.”
LSG captain Rishabh Pant remarked, “I believe that nowadays, the margin for batting or bowling first is not significant. However, having the chance to bowl first is great for us. Every win is essential, especially when you win in such a manner; it reflects the character of the team. We want to take it one match at a time and give our best. In our last match, we discussed intent on the field. It was great to see us putting in our all as a team. We are playing with the same squad.”
LSG had a rough start, losing their first match of the season. However, they bounced back with two consecutive wins, currently sitting fifth in the points table with 4 points. In their fourth match of the season, LSG aims to maintain their winning momentum.
Gujarat Titans have lost 2 out of 3 matches, securing only 2 points and are currently seventh in the standings. After two consecutive losses, GT managed a narrow victory against Delhi Capitals by just 1 run in their last match and hopes to continue this winning streak.
