
Chennai, April 14: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) achieved a remarkable feat in the 22nd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, scoring 192 runs for the loss of 5 wickets against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). This score marks CSK’s second-highest total in IPL history without a single player reaching a half-century.
Previously, CSK had set a record in 2012, scoring 193 runs for 6 wickets against Deccan Chargers in Visakhapatnam. They won that match by 74 runs.
In the match held at MA Chidambaram Stadium, CSK’s innings began with a partnership of 25 runs between captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and Sanju Samson in just 2.2 overs. Gaikwad was dismissed for only 7 runs.
Samson then teamed up with Ayush Mhatre, contributing 47 runs in 22 balls for the second wicket. Mhatre, in excellent form, scored 38 runs off 17 balls, hitting 2 sixes and 6 fours.
After losing 2 wickets for a score of 72, Samson and Dewald Brevis added 39 runs in 32 balls for the third wicket, pushing the team past the century mark. Samson narrowly missed his half-century, scoring 48 runs off 32 balls, including 3 sixes and 4 fours.
Sarfaraz Khan partnered with Brevis to score 51 runs in 29 balls, solidifying the team’s total. Brevis scored 41 runs off 29 balls with 2 sixes and 4 fours, while Sarfaraz contributed 23 runs off 18 balls with 2 sixes and 1 four. KKR’s Kartik Tyagi was the standout bowler, taking 2 wickets, while Vaibhav Arora, Anukul Roy, and Sunil Narine each claimed 1 wicket.
Under Ruturaj Gaikwad’s captaincy, CSK featured players such as Sanju Samson (wicketkeeper), Ayush Mhatre, Dewald Brevis, Shivam Dube, Sarfaraz Khan, Jamie Overton, Anshul Kamboj, Noor Ahmad, Khalil Ahmed, and Gurjapneet Singh.
Meanwhile, KKR’s lineup included captain Ajinkya Rahane, wicketkeeper Angkrish Raghuwanshi, Cameron Green, Rinku Singh, Rovman Powell, Ramandeep Singh, Sunil Narine, Anukul Roy, Varun Chakravarthy, Kartik Tyagi, and Vaibhav Arora.
