Chennai, April 3: In the seventh match of IPL 2026, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) faced off against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the MA Chidambaram Cricket Stadium. Batting first, CSK scored an impressive 209 runs, losing 5 wickets in the process. Ayush Mhatre and Shivam Dubey were the standout performers for CSK.

After losing the toss, CSK’s start was shaky. Sanju Samson struggled once again, scoring only 7 runs before being dismissed. However, Ayush Mhatre stabilized the innings alongside captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, forming a crucial partnership of 96 runs for the second wicket. Ruturaj scored 28 runs off 22 balls, hitting 2 fours before getting out. Ayush, on the other hand, continued his excellent form, scoring a powerful 73 runs off 43 balls, including 6 fours and 5 sixes.

Young batsman Kartik Sharma disappointed again, managing just 1 run. In contrast, Sarfaraz Khan showcased his talent, scoring 32 runs off just 12 balls at a staggering strike rate of 266. His explosive innings included 6 fours and 1 six.

In the final overs, Shivam Dubey played brilliantly, remaining unbeaten on 45 runs off 28 balls with a strike rate of 160. He hit 5 fours and 1 six. Prashant Veer also made his debut, scoring 6 runs not out. For PBKS, Vijaykumar Vaishak was the pick of the bowlers, taking 2 wickets for 38 runs, while Yuzvendra Chahal and Marco Jansen claimed 1 wicket each.

Under the captaincy of Ruturaj Gaikwad, CSK featured players like Sanju Samson (wicketkeeper), Ayush Mhatre, Sarfaraz Khan, Shivam Dubey, Kartik Sharma, Prashant Veer, Noor Ahmad, Anshul Kamboj, Matt Henry, and Khaleel Ahmed.

The Punjab Kings, led by Shreyas Iyer, included players such as Prabhsimran Singh, Cooper Connolly, Shashank Singh, Nehal Wadhera, Marcus Stoinis, Marco Jansen, Javier Bartlett, Vijay Kumar Vaishak, Arshdeep Singh, and Yuzvendra Chahal.
