New Delhi, April 4: A significant earthquake shook various parts of the country on Friday night. Tremors were reported in Delhi-NCR and Jammu-Kashmir. The epicenter of the quake was located at the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border, affecting India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan. The earthquake originated from the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan.
Tremors were also felt in Jammu and Kashmir, the capital New Delhi, Punjab, Chandigarh, and parts of Himachal Pradesh. Reports indicate that the earthquake registered a magnitude of 5.9, with its effects felt across northern India, including Jammu-Kashmir.
The epicenter was recorded at 71.01 degrees east longitude and 36.52 degrees north latitude, with a depth of 175 kilometers. In Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir, residents experienced the tremors, causing temporary panic. Fortunately, there have been no reports of damage or casualties, and authorities are monitoring the situation closely.
Earlier, tremors were also felt in Tibet, where an earthquake measuring 3.2 occurred at 8:12 PM.
