
Mumbai, April 3: The 16th Hockey India Sub-Junior Men’s National Championship 2026 continued with exciting matches on its third day at the Rajgir Hockey Stadium in Bihar. Teams from Goa, Uttarakhand, and Arunachal Pradesh secured impressive victories in their respective matches.
In Division C, Goa Hockey dominated Pool B, defeating Rajasthan with a staggering score of 7-0. Karan Kumar showcased his skills by scoring a hat-trick in the 2nd, 12th, and 44th minutes. Other contributors included Sahil Pramod (17th minute), Dilshad Ali (27th minute), Shreyas Hundre Changdev (30th minute), and Ankit (38th minute).
In Division B, Hockey Uttarakhand triumphed over Bengal with a score of 5-2. Vicky Singh Bohra opened the scoring with two goals in the 1st and 4th minutes, followed by two more goals from Govind Singh (7th and 60th minutes) and an additional goal from Aman Kumar (52nd minute). For Hockey Bengal, captain Riju Bar (9th minute) and Sujal Turi (22nd minute) managed to find the net.
Another match in Division B saw Hockey Arunachal defeat Bihar 4-2. Shubham Rajbhar (7th minute), Deepak Rao (24th minute), Raman Singh (34th minute), and Mohit Yadav (38th minute) scored for Arunachal, while Suman Kumar (2nd minute) and captain Abhay Shah (58th minute) scored for Bihar.
Earlier, on Thursday, teams from Andhra Pradesh, Mizoram, Delhi Hockey, Telangana Hockey, and Chhattisgarh Hockey also celebrated victories.
A total of 30 teams from across India are competing in Divisions A, B, and C, adding excitement through promotion and relegation dynamics. Teams in Division A will vie for the championship title, while the top two teams from Divisions B and C will earn promotion. Conversely, the bottom two teams in Divisions A and B will face relegation. Division A will consist of 12 teams divided into four pools, leading to quarter-finals, semi-finals, and the final match on April 12.
Pool A includes Hockey Punjab, Hockey Chandigarh, and Hockey Maharashtra. Pool B features Hockey Jharkhand, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu Hockey, and the Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu. Pool C comprises Uttar Pradesh Hockey, Hockey Haryana, and Manipur Hockey, while Pool D includes Hockey Madhya Pradesh, Hockey Association of Odisha, and Kerala Hockey.
Division B will be played in a league format with two pools. Pool A consists of Delhi Hockey, Hockey Gujarat, Hockey Bengal, Telangana Hockey, and Hockey Uttarakhand. Pool B includes Hockey Karnataka, Chhattisgarh Hockey, Hockey Arunachal, Hockey Himachal, and Bihar. Similarly, Division C will also follow a league format, with Pool A featuring Hockey Andhra Pradesh, Hockey Mizoram, Puducherry Hockey, and Assam Hockey, while Pool B includes Goa Hockey, Hockey Jammu and Kashmir, and the Tripura Olympic Association.
