Bengaluru, 21 August (Kiran News). Apple has officially started production of the iPhone 17 series in India, months ahead of its global debut in September 2025. This is the first large-scale assembly of the upcoming iPhone model at Foxconn’s newly built plant in Bengaluru, highlighting India’s expanding role in Apple’s global supply chain.
The Devanahalli facility, developed with an investment of about USD 2.8 billion (around Rs. 25,000 crore), has become Foxconn’s second-largest plant outside China. Small-scale assembly is already underway, with engineers from Taiwan and other regions working on process optimisation. Along with Bengaluru, Foxconn’s Chennai unit is also assembling the new iPhone 17, further strengthening Apple’s manufacturing presence in India.
Apple’s output in India has grown rapidly. The company reported a 60 percent increase in production value for the financial year ending March 2025, reaching USD 22 billion. CEO Tim Cook recently stated that by June 2025, most iPhones sold in the United States had been assembled in India. Last year, India produced around 35 to 40 million units, and this year, the number is expected to reach nearly 60 million. Exports from India are also set to rise, further solidifying the country’s position as a key base for Apple.
