
Patna, April 1: Bihar Minister Shravan Kumar expressed deep sorrow over the tragic stampede that occurred at the Sheetala Mata Temple in Nalanda. He urged the families of the victims to remain patient during this difficult time.
In a conversation in Nalanda, Minister Kumar stated, “This incident is very unfortunate. People visit the temple to pray and seek blessings, and such an event has taken place. It is extremely sad. An investigation will reveal the causes behind this tragedy. I appeal to the affected families to stay strong; the injured are receiving treatment in hospitals.”
He added that devotees have been visiting this temple for a long time. The investigation will shed light on the reasons for the incident. The government is providing all necessary assistance to the affected families.
Minister Deepak Prakash also described the incident as deeply tragic. He assured that the administration is fully alert and prepared, implementing all necessary relief measures and making appropriate arrangements for those affected.
Senior JD(U) leader Kaushalendra Kumar remarked that he has been informed about the entire incident. “First and foremost, this is a very unfortunate event. Such an incident has not occurred in Nalanda before. An investigation will reveal the truth and the reasons behind it. Senior officials are present at the site. According to local residents, the heat was intense, and many women had been waiting for hours to have their turn for darshan when the incident occurred.”
He emphasized that strict action would be taken against anyone found guilty.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed profound condolences for the loss of life among devotees during the stampede at the Sheetala Devi Temple in Bihar Sharif, Nalanda. He has directed that the families of the deceased receive a compensation of six lakh rupees each. The Chief Minister also wished for the swift recovery of those injured in the incident.
