Hazaribagh, September 18 (Daily Kiran) : Authorities in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, have made significant progress in the investigation of a woman’s body discovered near a national park about three weeks ago. According to police reports, the woman was strangled, and one suspect has been apprehended, while two accomplices remain at large.
The body of the unidentified woman was found on August 25, under the Kubari Bridge in the Ichak police jurisdiction. An investigation was initiated under the Indian Penal Code, with the case registered as Ichak police case number 144/26. After a post-mortem examination, the body was preserved in a cold storage facility for identification purposes.
Following directives from the Superintendent of Police, the technical branch assisted in advancing the investigation. Based on technical evidence, police detained 27-year-old Prakash Kumar, a resident of Ghirisindi Kala in the Barachatti area of Gaya district, Bihar.
During questioning, Prakash identified the victim as Ranjana Sinha, a resident of the Okni New Area in the Lohsinha police jurisdiction of Hazaribagh. Police stated that Ranjana was murdered on August 23 over a land dispute, and her body was subsequently discarded beneath the Kubari Bridge.
In addition to Prakash, two other individuals are implicated in the crime: Vicky Kumar Paswan from Manpur in Gaya and Ayush Kumar from Chouparan in Hazaribagh. Police recovered the victim’s glasses from the bushes near the crime scene, following Prakash’s guidance. The arrested suspect has been placed in judicial custody.
Police teams are actively searching for the two fugitives at various locations. The operation is led by Ichak police station chief Gautam Kumar, with support from Lohsinha police station chief Nishant Kerketta, officer Nandakishore Das, Sunil Sharma, and assistant sub-inspector Suresh Kumar Das, along with armed forces personnel.
