India and U.S. Showcase Military Might in Joint Exercises with M777 Howitzers

Mahajan Field Firing Range, Rajasthan, September 20 (Daily Kiran) : Indian and U.S. armed forces have conducted a significant display of artillery capabilities during their joint military exercises. The event, taking place at the Mahajan Field Firing Range in Rajasthan, featured live firing from the M777 ultra-light howitzer. These artillery units successfully targeted visible objectives using direct fire techniques.

The Indian Army reiterated its motto, “Always Alert. Always Ready,” as it engaged in the “Mission from Victory to Victory.” According to military sources, the M777 howitzers demonstrated remarkable accuracy, successfully destroying all designated targets. Soldiers showcased their professional skills, precision, and readiness for combat. Following the firing exercises, American military personnel visited the deployment sites of the M777 units.

During their visit, U.S. soldiers interacted with Indian artillery officers and troops, exchanging military experiences and discussing improved combat procedures. This joint exercise has provided both nations’ forces with an opportunity to train in conditions closely resembling real combat scenarios. The collaboration allows the two countries to assess their capabilities while learning from each other’s experiences.

The ongoing exercises, which began on September 16, include around 600 soldiers from both nations. Notably, this is the 22nd iteration of the joint drills, spanning from the snowy hills of Auli in Uttarakhand to the arid landscape of Rajasthan. Modern technology plays a crucial role in the exercises, with troops utilizing drones and autonomous systems for surveillance and reconnaissance. The Mahajan Field Firing Range is also showcasing advanced weapon systems as part of the training.

Through these activities, Indian and U.S. military personnel have gained insights into each other’s operational methods and responsibilities, enhancing their readiness for future joint operations. The focus on rapid repositioning of artillery after firing, known as “shoot and scoot,” has been a key aspect of the training, emphasizing the need for quick tactical responses.

The joint exercises reflect the strengthening military ties between India and the United States, fostering greater cooperation and interoperability between their armed forces.
