Mumbai, September 20 (Daily Kiran) : A tragic accident occurred on the Mumbai Coastal Road early on September 20, resulting in the deaths of three individuals and leaving one person critically injured. According to the Coastal Road Control Room, the incident took place around 5:20 AM near Lotus Jetty, in front of Lala College. The luxury car was reportedly heading from Marine Drive toward Haji Ali when the driver lost control at high speed.
Following the crash, all four occupants were rushed to Nair Hospital, where emergency medical teams assessed their conditions. An update from the Chief Medical Officer at Nair Hospital around 8:40 AM confirmed that three of the passengers were pronounced ‘brought dead’ upon arrival.
Among the deceased were a 21-year-old and a 17-year-old, while the identities of the victims are still being verified. The fourth occupant, a 20-year-old male, sustained serious injuries and is currently admitted to the trauma ward at Nair Hospital, where his condition remains critical. Authorities are awaiting further information regarding the victims’ identities and the precise cause of the accident as the police continue their investigation.
This incident follows a recent spike in dangerous driving behavior in the area. On September 3, Mumbai police took action after a viral video surfaced, showing luxury and high-performance vehicles racing recklessly inside the Marine Drive-Southbound Coastal Road tunnel. Earlier this week, another serious incident occurred in Navi Mumbai, where a speeding off-road SUV collided with three individuals, leaving them seriously injured. The driver fled the scene, and although a case has been registered against him, he has not yet been apprehended.
