
New Delhi, June 23: Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has ordered an intensified investigation into alleged financial and administrative irregularities in the procurement of medicines, surgical supplies, and medical equipment through the Central Procurement Agency (CPA) of the Health Department. This action is being taken under Section 17A of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
Based on received complaints, the roles of former Director General of Health Services Dr. Vatsala Agarwal and Deputy Controller of Accounts Neeraj Chopra are currently under scrutiny.
So far, Dr. Vinod Kumar Ranga, the then in-charge of the Central Procurement Agency, along with Dr. Vatsala Agarwal, has been suspended. Dr. Vinod Kumar Ranga has also been arrested by the Anti-Corruption Branch. Investigations into serious irregularities in the procurement process and allegations of damage to the government treasury are ongoing.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has taken this matter very seriously, directing that a fair, transparent, and timely investigation be ensured, along with regular reviews and monitoring of the case.
The Chief Minister has made it clear that the Delhi government is operating under a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption. Protecting every penny of the public’s hard-earned money is the government’s top priority, and any misuse of public funds will not be tolerated. Strict legal action will be ensured against anyone found guilty following due process.
