
Srinagar, June 21: International Yoga Day is being celebrated across the country and the world. A large number of people are participating in yoga sessions. On this occasion, Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha extended his best wishes.
In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, he wrote, “Happy International Yoga Day. This year’s theme is ‘Yoga for Healthy Aging’. Amid rising stress and modern health challenges, yoga is a strong ray of hope. Let us resolve today to adopt a healthy lifestyle and take a step towards better health.”
Yoga Day was celebrated at Srinagar International Airport. The airport announced on ‘X’ that it was fully prepared to commemorate International Yoga Day!
It was reported that at 6:45 AM, airport officials, staff, and stakeholders gathered to participate in a yoga session, embracing the spirit of health, wellness, and mindfulness. They invited everyone to join in celebrating the ancient tradition of yoga and its messages of harmony, balance, and well-being.
BJP MP Jugal Kishore Sharma conveyed heartfelt greetings to all citizens on International Yoga Day. He noted that people worldwide are practicing yoga. “We are fortunate that our Prime Minister has inspired people globally to embrace yoga. He has ensured the recognition of International Yoga Day. Today, people everywhere are engaging in yoga,” he stated.
BJP leader Ravinder Raina also extended warm wishes, saying, “Happy International Yoga Day to everyone! Today, the world is celebrating this day with great enthusiasm. Our esteemed Prime Minister Modi called upon the world to adopt yoga and urged everyone to incorporate it into their daily lives. Today, the world is embracing yoga.”
In Jammu, an underwater yoga session was held with enthusiastic participation from the youth. Participants practiced yoga underwater, combining swimming skills with wellness.
A participant in Srinagar shared, “Yoga has many benefits. I have been practicing it for the past two years. We also promote yoga through the Youth Services and Sports Department in Narwal. It is very beneficial for our lungs and helps us stay away from substance abuse.”
Another young woman practicing yoga in Srinagar remarked, “Yoga is excellent for health and overall well-being. We practice yoga daily at school. It is quite beneficial for health.” A third participant added, “Yoga is very important for us. It significantly reduces internal ailments and helps people stay healthy.”
