
Kolkata, June 21: International Yoga Day is being celebrated across the country with great enthusiasm. This year, West Bengal has organized special events to mark the occasion. Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in a yoga session with a large gathering in Kolkata. Leaders and citizens have shared their reactions to this significant event.
Dilip Ghosh, a minister in the West Bengal government, spoke to reporters, highlighting that Yoga Day has been celebrated globally for the past 12 years. He emphasized that this year’s main event is taking place in West Bengal, which is a matter of pride for the state. Ghosh noted that the presence of the Prime Minister makes this a significant day for Bengal.
He mentioned that Yoga Day is being observed in various parts of the country and the world. The large-scale event aims to spread the message of yoga to every household in Bengal. Ghosh added that people have been practicing for the event over the past ten days, with yoga programs being held at various locations, including the banks of the Ganges.
BJP leader Arjun Singh expressed his joy, stating, “What could be more gratifying than having the Prime Minister of India, respected worldwide, practicing yoga with the people in Bengal today?”
BJP MP Soumitra Khan remarked, “Today is historic. The presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Kolkata makes this event even more special. I am fully prepared to participate in the yoga program. Yoga undoubtedly brings benefits, and it holds special significance in our country, which the Prime Minister continues to promote.”
BJP councilor Meena Devi Purohit shared her happiness, saying, “We are extremely delighted. Until now, we have only seen the Prime Minister participating in International Yoga Day events on television. We practice yoga regularly, but this is the first time West Bengal has had the opportunity to host Prime Minister Modi among us. His visit has generated special excitement among the people.”
