Srinagar, September 8 (Daily Kiran) : The inaugural International Film Festival of Jammu and Kashmir (IFFJK) is currently taking place in Srinagar, featuring renowned director and writer Shriram Raghavan. During the event, Raghavan praised the festival’s potential to strengthen the bond between the region and Bollywood.
In an interview, he emphasized that the festival could inspire the people of Jammu and Kashmir to pursue careers in the entertainment industry. “There is a significant need for talent in every aspect of filmmaking, and I believe this event will encourage those who aspire to enter the entertainment world. They will feel motivated to give it a try,” he stated.
Raghavan also noted that while the immediate impact of the festival may not be visible, its long-term benefits will emerge over time. “I think this festival will provide some support to the people, and the difference will be noticeable in a few years,” he added.
The director expressed that the IFFJK should be viewed as an opportunity for Hindi cinema. “The Hindi film industry should see this as a chance, as every state now has its own cultural cinema, and many regional films are performing well. There is a lot happening, and perhaps something similar will occur here as well,” he said.
Raghavan was pleased with the turnout at the festival, remarking, “The crowd was substantial; I haven’t seen this many people even in Mumbai. There, we would have 40-50 attendees, but here, the hall was completely filled. I wished I could stay for another hour or two; I felt I could spend an entire day here.”
The festival, which runs from September 7 to September 10, 2026, was inaugurated by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre. The main theme of the festival is “Rang-e-Cinema.”
