Karan Johar Announces Final Season of ‘Koffee with Karan’

Mumbai, September 30 (Daily Kiran) : Karan Johar, the renowned filmmaker and television host, has announced that his popular celebrity chat show, ‘Koffee with Karan,’ is entering its final season. The announcement came via a heartfelt video shared on social media, where Johar reflected on the show’s journey with evident emotion.

In the video, Johar recounted that the idea for the show originated from conversations with his late father, Yash Johar, who was a notable film producer. After eight seasons and 161 episodes, the final season is set to premiere on October 14 on JioCinema.

Johar mentioned, “I think we should talk over coffee… ‘Hotstar Specials: Koffee with Karan Season 9’ will debut on October 14.” He shared the story behind the show’s inception, recalling a June 2004 conversation with his father, where he expressed his desire to host a talk show featuring candid discussions with celebrities. His father humorously questioned why anyone would pay for such conversations.

Tragically, Johar’s father passed away later that month. The first episode of ‘Koffee with Karan’ was filmed on August 16, 2004. Reflecting on the show’s impact, Johar noted, “Some journeys don’t have a set end, but deep down, you know when it’s time to let go. ‘Koffee with Karan’ has been a special part of my life, filled with friendships, memories, laughter, love, and even controversies.”

He expressed gratitude towards the audience, stating, “The viewers have laughed, debated, trolled, celebrated, and most importantly, returned for another cup of coffee each time.” As he prepares to say goodbye, Johar described it as an emotional yet fitting conclusion, inviting fans to join him for one last cup of coffee.

Alok Jain, head of Hindi and English entertainment at JioCinema, also reminisced about the show’s legacy. He highlighted that ‘Koffee with Karan’ has brought numerous celebrities into viewers’ homes and created a fan base that is unparalleled.

The final season of ‘Koffee with Karan’ will be available for streaming on JioCinema starting October 14.
