Noida, June 5: The police in Noida have successfully dismantled an inter-state gang involved in mobile theft and snatching, arresting two suspects while taking a minor into custody.
Authorities recovered 67 stolen mobile phones, six mobile phone folders, one HP laptop, mobile unlocking tools, and two illegal knives from the suspects. The estimated value of the seized items is around 1.5 million rupees. According to police, a team from the Phase-1 police station apprehended two individuals named Pawan and Golu on Friday near a filthy drain in Sector 14. Both suspects are residents of New Bans village in the Phase-1 area. A minor was also involved and has been taken into custody.
ADCP Manisha Singh stated that during interrogation, the suspects revealed several shocking details. The gang was active in crowded areas across Delhi, Noida, NCR, and nearby regions. To execute their crimes, the minor would suddenly appear in front of moving vehicles, pretending to be injured and shouting loudly. When the driver exited the vehicle to assess the situation, the second suspect would swiftly open the opposite window and steal the mobile phone.
The police investigation also uncovered that the suspects were involved in snatching mobile phones from pedestrians, pickpocketing, and burglarizing PG accommodations and vacant houses. The stolen mobile phones were sold at low prices to passersby, while those that remained unsold were unlocked by Pawan using laptops and special tools, allowing him to sell the parts separately.
The recovered mobile phones include 11 Samsung, 10 Redmi, 10 Vivo, and 9 iPhones, among others, totaling 67 devices from various brands. Additionally, tools used for mobile repairs, wire cutters, screwdrivers, mini grinders, pliers, and other items were also seized.
The police have filed cases against the suspects under relevant sections of the law. Authorities are currently investigating the criminal history of both suspects and are on the lookout for other gang members, with further revelations about this network expected soon.
