Intense Heatwave Grips Rajasthan: Temperatures Soar to 46 Degrees

Jaipur, April 27: Rajasthan is currently experiencing a severe heatwave. The meteorological department issued an alert on Monday for strong winds and light rain in Jaipur, Alwar, and surrounding areas, providing some relief to residents battling the scorching heat.

Officials from the meteorological department reported that a heatwave is affecting most parts of the state, with maximum temperatures ranging between 44 and 46 degrees Celsius, significantly above normal levels.

In the last 24 hours, Barmer recorded the highest temperature in the state at 46.4 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature was noted at 22.8 degrees Celsius in Jawai Dam (Pali). The highest rainfall in the state during this period was recorded at 6.0 mm in Gangapur city (Sawai Madhopur).

Several districts have reported heatwave conditions and warm nights. However, some areas experienced light rain or drizzle accompanied by thunder and strong winds. Barmer recorded the highest daytime temperature, closely followed by Jaisalmer, famously known as the Golden City of India, where temperatures reached 46 degrees Celsius. Kota and Chittorgarh also reported temperatures of 45.2 degrees Celsius.

Following the intense heat on Sunday, weather conditions changed in some parts of the state. After 4 PM, clouds gathered over districts such as Jaisalmer, Bikaner, Ajmer, Bhilwara, and Chittorgarh, leading to light rain and dusty winds in certain areas.

According to the meteorological department’s forecast, the heatwave is expected to persist, with temperatures remaining above normal. However, some relief may be experienced in the afternoon, along with the possibility of cloud cover, light rain, and sporadic dusty winds in several districts.

The department anticipates a more significant change in weather between April 28 and April 30, when many parts of the state could witness thunderstorms, rainfall, and even isolated hailstorms.
