INLD Demands Immediate Fuel Price Cuts, Threatens Statewide Protests

Chandigarh, May 28: Senior leader of the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), Sampat Singh, has once again urged the central government to immediately roll back rising fuel prices. He warned that if petrol, diesel, and gas cylinder prices are not reduced by May 31, INLD workers will launch large-scale protests across Haryana starting June 1.

During a conversation on Thursday, Singh expressed that the general public is already struggling with inflation, and the continuous price hikes are further burdening them. He noted that the hopes raised before elections often shatter afterward, leading to increased prices. Singh accused the government of only promising relief during election times, leaving the common man to bear the weight of inflation afterward.

He highlighted the significant increase in prices for both domestic and commercial gas cylinders, affecting hotels, small traders, and everyday consumers alike. According to him, this issue transcends economics; it directly impacts the budgets of households.

Singh stated that every segment of society, whether farmers, laborers, traders, or salaried employees, is suffering from inflation. He emphasized that the small and medium classes are hit the hardest. Furthermore, he claimed that both the government and companies are profiting from price hikes, while the burden falls on the common people.

He pointed out that fluctuations in international markets do not benefit the public, yet they are the ones who bear the consequences.

Singh reiterated that if their demands are not met by May 31, large-scale protests will occur in every district starting June 1, with a significant number of people taking to the streets to voice their dissent.
