New Delhi, May 22: The growing influence of the Pro Wrestling League on India’s wrestling ecosystem will be on display at the Under-17 and Under-23 Asian Wrestling Championships, taking place in Da Nang, Vietnam from May 23 to 31. Wrestlers like Chandramohan, Sachin Mor, Neha, and Kajal will represent India.
Several wrestlers from the Pro Wrestling League 2026 are part of the Indian contingent, but the spotlight will be on these four athletes. This highlights how the league is emerging as a key platform for nurturing, developing, and advancing the next generation of wrestling talent in India.
In the Under-23 men’s freestyle category, current Under-23 Asian champion Chandramohan from Punjab Royals will compete in the 79-kilogram weight class. Meanwhile, Sachin Mor from Haryana Thunder, who was part of the franchise’s title-winning campaign in the Pro Wrestling League (PWAL), will represent India in the 86-kilogram category.
The Under-23 women’s team will also feature strong representation from Haryana Thunder, with wrestlers Neha (59 kilograms) and Kajal (76 kilograms). Both were integral members of the franchise’s successful PWAL 2026 campaign.
Neha enters the championships with significant international experience. She previously won a bronze medal at the Under-20 World Championships and a gold medal at the Under-17 Asian Championships. On the other hand, Kajal has quickly established herself as one of India’s most promising wrestling talents. She arrives in Da Nang as the current Under-20 World Champion, Under-17 World Champion, and Under-20 Asian Champion.
The presence of these wrestlers further solidifies the PWAL’s growing role in strengthening India’s wrestling framework, which extends far beyond the confines of a franchise league competition. A unique aspect of the PWAL is that it has provided young and emerging Indian wrestlers the opportunity to share the mat, training environment, and dressing room with some of the biggest wrestling stars in the world. This exposure to world-class standards, high-pressure matches, and professional sports structures has played a crucial role in enhancing the experience, confidence, and tactical understanding of India’s emerging wrestlers.
Akhil Gupta, CEO and promoter of PWAL, has reiterated the league’s long-term goal of contributing significantly to the development of Indian wrestling by creating a sustainable professional ecosystem that supports and advances emerging talents.
