
Wokha, August 29: The second edition of the ‘Inter-School Volleyball League 2026′ concluded successfully on Saturday at the public ground in Wokha. Gilgal School Wokha claimed the championship title in the girls’ category, while Isaiah Ability High Secondary School excelled in the boys’ category.
This tournament was organized by Nagaland’s Youth Resource and Sports Department in collaboration with the Wokha District Volleyball Association under the theme ‘Play with Passion, Win with Respect.’
Gilgal School Wokha emerged as the girls’ champion, with St. Peter School Wokha finishing as the runner-up. In this category, Santasuo School was honored with the title of ‘Best Disciplined Team.’
A total of nine schools participated in the boys’ category, while six schools competed in the girls’ category. Isaiah Ability High Secondary School won the boys’ championship, with St. Peter School as the runner-up. Little Angels School received the ‘Best Discipline’ award in the boys’ category.
During the closing ceremony, Wokha’s Deputy Commissioner K. Mathung Tsanglao urged students to take sports seriously as an essential part of their co-curricular activities.
Encouraging young athletes to actively participate in sports, Tsanglao emphasized the importance of dedication, discipline, teamwork, and respect for opponents. He noted that consistent effort and commitment could open doors for students to play at higher levels and represent the country in the future. The Deputy Commissioner wished all participating students well and encouraged greater involvement in sports activities.
Teams from various schools enthusiastically participated and showcased their talents. The competition aimed to promote volleyball at the school level and provide a competitive platform for young players. Organizers honored the winning and runner-up teams, wishing the players a bright future.
