Indian Womens Team Dominates Australia A in Unofficial Test

Dharamshala, September 30 (Daily Kiran) : The Indian women’s cricket team had a stellar performance on the second day of their unofficial Test match against Australia A, held at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala. After restricting Australia A to just 176 runs in their first innings, India responded strongly, finishing the day with 134 runs for the loss of two wickets in their second innings.

In their first innings, India scored 364 runs before being bowled out. Australia A’s batting started positively, with Tahliya Wilson and captain Rachel Trenaman putting together a 66-run partnership for the first wicket. Wilson scored 35 runs before being dismissed by Niki Prasad, while Trenaman managed 44 runs but could not capitalize on her start.

Courtney Webb struggled with the bat, returning to the pavilion after scoring just 14 runs. Vaishnavi Sharma made a significant impact by taking the wicket of Charlie Knott for 15 runs. Anika Leroy managed only 12 runs, and Tess Flintoff was dismissed for 11. Siana Ginger did not score, and Millie Illingworth contributed 5 runs before being out. Nicole Faltum stood out for Australia A, finishing not out on 24, but lacked support from her teammates.

Vaishnavi Sharma was the standout bowler for India, claiming six wickets. Shuchi Upadhyay and Niki Prasad each took two wickets, giving India a substantial first-innings lead of 188 runs.

In their second innings, India started well with Shubha Satish and Priya Punia forming a solid opening partnership of 60 runs. Shubha scored 27 runs before being dismissed. Priya then joined forces with captain Yastika Bhatia, adding 74 runs for the second wicket. Priya completed her half-century, scoring 59 runs from 77 balls.

At the close of play, India had scored 134 runs for the loss of two wickets in their second innings, establishing a commanding lead of 322 runs. Yastika Bhatia remained at the crease with 33 runs to her name.
