Moki, China, September 13 (Daily Kiran) : The Indian junior men’s hockey team made history by winning the Asia Cup for a record sixth time, triumphing over South Korea 4-1 in the final held at the Moki Training Base on September 13, 2026. This victory marks India’s fourth consecutive title in this continental championship and secures their qualification for the FIH Junior Hockey World Cup.
From the outset, India demonstrated dominance against their Asian rivals. Ajit Yadav opened the scoring in the ninth minute, followed by Anmol Ekka doubling the lead just four minutes later. By the end of the first quarter, India was ahead 2-0. Prabhdeep Singh added a third goal in the 21st minute, allowing India to maintain a commanding 3-0 lead at halftime.
South Korea, the champions from 2000, needed a strong comeback but struggled to find their footing. Ashu Maurya extended India’s lead to 4-0 with a goal in the 50th minute. Although South Korea’s Lee Minhyeok scored in the 54th minute, it was too little, too late, as India secured the match with a final score of 4-1.
With this victory, India has now matched Pakistan’s record of three consecutive titles, having previously won the Asia Cup in 2015, 2023, and 2024. India remains the most successful team in the tournament’s history, while Pakistan, with three titles from 1988 to 1996, and Korea, who won once in 2000, follow behind. Malaysia also claimed the title in 2012.
