Indian Embassy Issues Advisory for Nationals in Qatar Amid Rising Tensions

New Delhi, March 6: The Indian Embassy in Doha has issued an advisory for its citizens in light of the escalating tensions in the Middle East. The embassy urged all Indians residing in Qatar to strictly adhere to the guidelines provided by local authorities, particularly the Ministry of Interior.

The advisory recommends that Indian nationals stay in safe locations, venture out only when absolutely necessary, and avoid windows and open spaces. The embassy is also sharing updates from Qatari authorities through its social media channels, including Facebook and Instagram.

Currently, Qatar’s airspace is closed, and flights have been temporarily suspended. Qatar Airways will provide the latest updates on March 7 at 9 AM (Doha time). All travelers are advised to stay in contact with their respective airlines.

The Qatari Ministry of Interior has announced an extension of validity for all categories of entry visas that have expired or are about to expire, effective from February 28, 2026, for one month. This extension may be further prolonged depending on the situation.

In case of emergencies, the option to travel to Saudi Arabia via the Salwa land border is currently available. Indian citizens holding American, British, or Schengen visas (which have been used at least once) can obtain a visa upon arrival in Saudi Arabia. Other Indian nationals wishing to travel through Saudi Arabia can apply for a Saudi visa following the established procedures.

The Indian Embassy in Doha is opening a registration link to facilitate the acquisition of temporary transit visas for those currently stranded in Qatar, provided they have confirmed tickets for travel outside Saudi Arabia.

During registration, individuals must submit copies of their flight tickets to Qatar and their tickets for departure from Saudi Arabia. All arrangements related to travel to the Salwa border and onward to the airport must be made by each individual.

Please note that the embassy will require sufficient time (at least 48 hours) to provide this service. Additionally, Indian nationals can contact the embassy’s helpline numbers at +974 55647502 or +974 55362508 for assistance.
