New Delhi, March 26: Delhi government minister Pravesh Sahib Singh Verma has made serious allegations against former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, labeling him as the “dacoit of Delhi” in a video posted on the social media platform ‘X’. Verma claims that Kejriwal transformed his official residence into a luxurious palace filled with extravagant items.
In his post, Verma wrote, “The story of Delhi’s dacoit. He came with a face of trust and adorned his dream palace with treasures.”
The minister shared a video titled “Dhuraandhar Part-3: The Story of Delhi’s Rahman Dacoit,” where he showcases the luxurious items installed in the residence, referred to as ‘Sheesh Mahal’.
On the previous day, Verma raised these issues passionately in the Delhi Assembly. He presented a lengthy list of accusations, asserting that Kejriwal’s official residence was designed like a palace, featuring extremely expensive and luxurious furnishings.
According to Verma, heavy expenditures were made on everything from gym equipment to furniture and electronic devices. He claimed that a single treadmill cost around ₹14 lakh, with an additional payment made for a trainer. He also mentioned that ₹3 lakh was spent on a set of dumbbells.
Verma further revealed that a large 88-inch TV was installed, with a total expenditure of ₹27 lakh on three TVs. Additional amenities such as a chimney, sofa, mini bar, and entrance lights contributed to the rising costs.
Discussing furniture expenses, Verma noted that two tenders were issued for a sofa set—one for ₹35 lakh and another for ₹1.5 lakh. He stated that a total of 76 tables were installed, costing around ₹1.05 crore. Furthermore, ₹40 lakh was spent on eight beds, ₹60 lakh on chairs, and ₹50 lakh on consoles.
The minister also claimed that curtains worth ₹1.5 crore were installed, along with carpets costing ₹60 lakh and small puffy stools. He mentioned a large dining table that can seat 28 people, priced at approximately ₹14 lakh.
Verma provided several figures regarding gym equipment as well, stating that a spin bike cost ₹1 lakh, a fusion crest machine ₹3 lakh, and body solid equipment around ₹6 lakh.
Additionally, he claimed that electrical items worth ₹12 lakh and decorative ceiling fittings costing ₹14 lakh were installed throughout the residence. According to Verma, a total of 11 TVs were placed in the house, with an expenditure of about ₹1.5 crore.
He also alleged that expensive equipment such as a barbecue unit, ceiling speakers, cameras, amplifiers, and pre-amplifiers were installed. Furthermore, around 50 air conditioners were set up, along with a ₹5 lakh inverter system.
This controversy has sparked intense debate in Delhi’s political landscape. While the BJP is attacking the government over these allegations, all eyes are now on the Aam Aadmi Party and former Chief Minister Kejriwal for their response.
