Prayagraj, June 13: The Central India Command of the Indian Army has conducted a comprehensive flood relief and disaster response mock drill in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. This exercise aimed to strengthen preparations for handling emergency situations like floods. Key locations, including VIP Ghat, the Sangam area, and Kila Ghat, were involved in the drill.
The mock drill evaluated all critical aspects of disaster management. Activities included rescuing individuals from flood-affected areas, safely evacuating the injured, providing medical assistance, and swiftly distributing relief materials. Coordination with civil administration, local police, SDRF, and other agencies was also tested. Soldiers practiced these activities while simulating a real disaster scenario.
During the drill, particular emphasis was placed on rapid response, effective resource deployment, and timely assistance to affected citizens. Army teams utilized boats, medical vans, relief supplies, and communication equipment to operate under realistic conditions. The coordination among various agencies was also assessed.
Through this exercise, the Central India Command of the Indian Army conveyed a clear message: in any situation of natural disasters or humanitarian crises, the Army stands ready to support the nation’s citizens. Such drills not only enhance the operational readiness of the Army but also foster better coordination and trust with civil administration.
Army officials stated that regular mock drills enhance soldiers’ capabilities, allowing response teams to operate with speed, precision, and sensitivity during actual disasters. This exercise is particularly crucial in flood-prone areas like Prayagraj, where rising water levels in the Ganga and Yamuna rivers during the monsoon season often lead to flooding.
