New Delhi, May 6: India has introduced its deep-tech startup initiative, ‘India Innovates 2026’, to global investors and stakeholders at a roadshow held in Paris. This move precedes the upcoming ‘India Innovates 2026’ conclave scheduled for next month in Nice, France, aimed at raising awareness among investors about the program.
The roadshow showcased India’s deep-tech ecosystem and innovation-driven higher education to global investors, companies, universities, and research institutions. Over 50 participants from the French business and innovation ecosystem, including representatives from the Ministry of Education, the Indian Embassy in Paris, and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), attended the event.
Key players from the French business and innovation sectors, such as La French Tech, VivaTech, ESCP Business School, ESSEC, INRIA, and the India-French Chamber of Commerce, along with venture capitalists, consultants, legal experts, and startup networks, were also present.
Additionally, the roadshow served as a platform to inform potential investors and partners about the scope, objectives, and investment opportunities associated with ‘India Innovates 2026’.
During the event, K.M. Prafulchandra Sharma, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Education, highlighted the importance of this initiative in strengthening international cooperation under the India-France special global strategic partnership. Joint Secretary Govind Jaiswal also delivered a presentation outlining opportunities for French and global investors to engage with India’s rapidly growing innovation ecosystem.
The roadshow emphasized that ‘India Innovates 2026’ will focus on 13 leading technology sectors, including advanced computing, semiconductors, next-generation communications, advanced materials, critical minerals, biotechnology, space and defense, and manufacturing under Industry 4.0.
The first edition will bring India’s top 120 deep-tech startups to France to promote pilot projects, co-development, investment, research partnerships, manufacturing, and market access.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced this initiative on February 17 during the inauguration of the India-France Innovation Year, in the presence of the French President.
The ‘India Innovates 2026’ event will take place from June 14 to 16 at the Palais des Expositions in Nice, France.
