
Chaubatia, October 10 (Daily Kiran) : The joint military exercise ‘Mountain Guardian 2026’ between India and the United Arab Emirates is currently taking place at the Foreign Training Node in Chaubatia, Uttarakhand. Launched on October 5, this two-week exercise is set to conclude on October 18, 2026, and involves a total of 92 soldiers from both nations.
The Indian contingent includes troops from the Bhairav Battalion, while the UAE forces consist of soldiers from a mountain infantry battalion. The primary aim of this exercise is to enhance the capability for joint military operations in mountainous terrains, strengthen mutual coordination, and facilitate the exchange of modern warfare techniques.
During the initial phase, soldiers from both countries engaged in various challenging, operation-oriented training activities. These included physical training, jiu-jitsu, reflex shooting, rock climbing, rappelling, fox-line training, slithering, and both day and night firing exercises, as well as specialized mountain warfare training.
In the upcoming phases, the forces will focus on joint planning, tactical exercises, establishing a monitoring grid, drone operations, obstacle training, and integrated field exercises. Special emphasis will be placed on technology-based military operations in rugged mountainous areas.
According to defense officials, this joint training is improving operational capability, tactical efficiency, and coordination between the two armies. It also provides soldiers with opportunities to share professional experiences and best military practices related to mountain warfare.
This exercise is seen as a significant step in strengthening military cooperation, mutual trust, and professional ties between India and the UAE, reflecting the growing defense relationship between the two nations.
