Bhopal, October 10 (Daily Kiran) : Chief Minister Mohan Yadav of Madhya Pradesh has announced that the state government is consistently working to enhance farmers’ income. He highlighted the implementation of beneficial schemes aimed at achieving this goal.
Speaking via video conference from Bodh Gaya, Bihar, during the ‘Balram Krishi Mahotsav’ held in Shajapur district, Yadav noted that Shajapur is making significant strides in agriculture, innovation, and development. The district is gaining recognition for its production of crops like onions, potatoes, and soybeans, as well as for its agricultural-based industries and solar energy initiatives.
Yadav stated that proposed road and expressway projects will accelerate development in Shajapur, making it easier for farmers and local traders to access markets. Under the Farmer Welfare Year initiative, the government is promoting irrigation, electricity, solar pumps, storage, food processing, and agriculture-based industries to make farming more profitable. Efforts include quadrupling compensation for new roads, ensuring daytime electricity availability, incentivizing solar pumps, and establishing fair pricing and storage systems for agricultural products.
The Chief Minister urged farmers to diversify their income sources by adopting activities such as animal husbandry, dairy production, flower cultivation, fish farming, and food processing alongside traditional farming practices.
To boost dairy production, the Sanchi Dairy Union is being strengthened. Daily assistance is provided for the operation of gaushalas (cattle shelters), and competitions and award schemes will be implemented to promote animal husbandry. Initiatives are also underway to enhance the processing, storage, and establishment of food parks for potatoes and onions, ensuring better prices for farmers’ produce.
