Political Tensions Rise in Delhi Over CJP Protests and Arrest of Abhijit Dipke

New Delhi, October 10 (Daily Kiran) : Political tensions have escalated in New Delhi following protests by the Citizens for Justice and Peace (CJP) and the recent arrest of activist Abhijit Dipke. BJP MP Jagannath Sarkar accused the demonstrators of attempting to harm the nation. In contrast, Congress leaders in Mumbai, including Bhai Jagatap and MLA Aslam Sheikh, criticized the central government, questioning the constitutional rights of citizens to protest.

Sarkar claimed that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, India is progressing, and the public is becoming aware of this. He noted a declining voter percentage for the opposition in elections, suggesting that issues like alleged vote theft are being raised as a distraction. He further alleged that individuals associated with Rahul Gandhi, including communists and supporters of Pakistan, are conspiring to harm the country.

In Mumbai, Bhai Jagatap condemned the arrest of Dipke, labeling it a troubling escalation of state repression. He emphasized that the public would not tolerate such attacks on democracy. Jagatap questioned whether Dipke was a criminal or a figure like Dawood Ibrahim, implying that the heavy-handed approach towards him was unwarranted. He asserted that Dipke represents the youth of the nation who are voicing their rights and standing against government policies.

Congress MLA Aslam Sheikh defended the right to protest under the Constitution. He raised concerns about the violence faced by citizens exercising their rights and the closure of hotels during protests. Sheikh expressed that the current climate across the country resembles a state of emergency, with police and military forces being deployed against children and youth. He pointed out that even residential areas are not exempt from police intimidation.

Sheikh also referenced Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, alleging that the government created legal protections for him to evade accountability. He questioned the motives behind such actions, asserting that India is a democratic nation where the law should apply to all, regardless of status.

The ongoing political discourse highlights the growing divide between government authorities and those advocating for citizens’ rights, raising critical questions about the state of democracy in India.
