Congress Leader Aradhna Mishra Mona Criticizes BJP’s Tactics Amid Protests in Delhi

Lucknow, October 10 (Daily Kiran) : Aradhna Mishra Mona, the president of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee, has sharply criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in response to recent protests in Delhi. These demonstrations, organized by the BJP’s women’s wing, targeted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Mona accused the BJP of attempting to undermine the Congress ideology and democratic rights. She stated that tearing down posters would not weaken Congress’s struggle but rather fortify it.

During the protests, the police erected barricades to prevent demonstrators from reaching the Congress headquarters. Mona reported that, on their way back, protesters vandalized posters and struck images of Rahul Gandhi. She interpreted these actions as signs of desperation from the BJP, asserting that such incidents would only strengthen Congress’s commitment to defending the Constitution and democracy.

Mona also dismissed allegations against Rahul Gandhi regarding mistreatment of female police officers as misleading. She recounted an incident during the Delhi protests where female Congress MPs faced police aggression, resulting in injuries. Notably, she mentioned an altercation involving Priyanka Gandhi, emphasizing that images of these confrontations had surfaced publicly.

Furthermore, Mona accused the BJP of harboring an anti-women ideology. She highlighted the need to address rising crimes against women in Delhi, insisting that these issues require attention.

In response to Mehbooba Mufti’s remarks comparing the situation in Delhi to the aftermath of Article 370’s abrogation in Kashmir, Mona noted the heavy security presence in the capital. She pointed out restrictions on metro services, public transport, and school operations, alongside the detention of several leaders. Mona stressed that peaceful protest is a fundamental right of political parties and organizations, asserting that Congress and the INDIA alliance will continue to fight for this right.

She reiterated calls for the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar, questioning the removal of millions of names from the voter list during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process.

Addressing BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari’s claims of foreign conspiracies behind the protests, Mona condemned the notion of labeling Indian citizens as traitors or pawns of foreign powers. She affirmed that the citizens are committed to upholding the unity, integrity, and Constitution of India. Mona insisted that concerns over the voter list removals have also been raised by two senior members of the Election Commission. Until Gyanesh Kumar resigns, she vowed that Congress’s struggle would persist.
