New Delhi, March 29: The Ministry of Tribal Affairs has announced an extension of the India Tribes Fest 2026 at Sundar Nursery in New Delhi until April 5. An official shared this information on Saturday.
According to a statement, the Minister of State for Tribal Affairs, Durga Das Uike, will inaugurate the Van Dhan Conclave on March 29, focusing on sustainable livelihoods and the value addition of minor forest produce.
The decision to extend the festival was made in light of significant public participation and increasing demand for activities organized in collaboration with TRIFED (Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India). Originally, the festival was set to conclude on March 30.
The statement further noted that this decision reflects the enthusiastic response from visitors, stakeholders, and participants. It aims to strengthen market access and livelihood opportunities for tribal artisans, entrepreneurs, and self-help groups (SHGs) across the country. The festival has emerged as a platform showcasing India’s rich tribal heritage, featuring traditional crafts, handlooms, cuisines, and enterprises.
The event has attracted large crowds, with over 1,000 tribal artisans, Van Dhan Development Centers (VDVKs), tribal chefs, and cultural groups participating from various regions of the country.
The festival includes 78 VDVKs from 22 states, over 300 art and craft exhibitors from 28 states, and 120 tribal cuisine participants operating 30 food stalls representing 21 states.
This extension will help artisans and producers maintain direct contact with consumers, ensuring better prices and greater visibility for tribal products. It will also provide visitors with more opportunities to experience the diverse cultural expressions of tribal India.
In addition to exhibitions and sales, the festival will continue to host significant events such as the India Tribes Business Conclave, CSR Conclave, and thematic workshops, promoting knowledge exchange, partnerships, and capacity building.
