Washington, April 1: President Donald Trump stated that American troops could be out of the ongoing conflict with Iran within weeks. He asserted that the U.S. has already achieved its primary objective of halting Iran’s nuclear program.
Trump made these remarks during a press briefing in the Oval Office. “I think it will take two or three weeks. This mission is nearing completion,” he said.
He claimed that continuous attacks have significantly weakened Iran’s power. “Our sole goal was to ensure that Iran does not possess nuclear weapons, and that goal has been accomplished. They will not have nuclear weapons now,” Trump added.
The President also indicated that the situation in Iran has changed. “There has been a shift in power, and now we are dealing with more sensible people,” he noted. He explained that the aim of U.S. military action is to weaken Iran’s capabilities over the long term. “We want to eliminate every aspect of their capability,” Trump stated.
Additionally, he expressed the possibility of reaching an agreement through negotiations. “It’s possible that a deal could happen, as they want to negotiate more than we do,” he said.
However, Trump clarified that any agreement would not be a condition for the withdrawal of U.S. troops. “Iran does not need to negotiate… We will leave when we feel they have been pushed back for a long time,” he remarked.
According to Trump, the conflict has drastically changed the landscape. “We have pushed them back significantly. It will take them 15 to 20 years to recover,” he said, emphasizing the necessity of the military action. “We had to take this step because a madman wanted to create nuclear weapons.”
Trump detailed that U.S. forces have targeted key Iranian installations. He reiterated that the main objective has been achieved and that the remaining tasks will be completed swiftly. He noted that Iran no longer has a navy, air force, or a strong army.
He also mentioned that Iran’s communication systems and air defense have been destroyed. “They now lack telecommunications and anti-aircraft systems,” Trump stated, calling it a decisive victory for the U.S. “They are losing, they acknowledge it, and they are pleading for a deal.”
In conclusion, he remarked that Iran’s defense capabilities have been so severely diminished that U.S. aircraft now maintain complete control of the skies. He hinted that Iranian defenses have been rendered ineffective to the extent that American planes can fly freely.
