New Delhi, July 15: The Palestinian Authority has welcomed India’s announcement to establish three major development projects for the Palestinian people. The Palestinian Embassy in India referred to External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar’s declaration, stating that this initiative strengthens cooperation and humanitarian partnerships between the two nations.
According to the embassy’s statement, India will set up a specialized hospital, a prosthetic limb implantation and fitting center, and a vocational training institute in Palestine. This announcement coincided with India’s campaign for temporary membership in the United Nations Security Council (2028-2029). The commitment was expressed during the Palestine Donor Group meeting held in Brussels.
The embassy emphasized that this assistance is crucial amid the ongoing severe humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The statement claimed that Gaza’s healthcare system has been severely impacted, with many hospitals and medical facilities either destroyed or non-operational. Additionally, a significant number of people are facing shortages of medical facilities, medications, and essential health services.
According to the statement, the establishment of the specialized hospital and prosthetic limb fitting center will enhance healthcare services and aid in the rehabilitation of war-affected individuals. Meanwhile, the vocational training institute will equip Palestinian youth with essential skills, contributing to their future and the reconstruction of the economy.
Palestine also welcomed India’s long-standing policy commitments, including support for a two-state solution, which envisions peaceful coexistence between an independent Palestine and Israel. Furthermore, Palestine appreciated India’s efforts to secure full UN membership and its continued humanitarian and developmental partnership with the Palestinian people.
In its statement, Palestine expressed gratitude to the Government of India and the Indian people, highlighting that the friendship, humanitarian cooperation, peace, justice, international law, and commitment to the two-state solution have long been established between the two nations.
