India Sets a Massive Target of 210 Runs Against Netherlands in Womens T20 World Cup

Leeds, June 18: India has set a formidable target of 210 runs against the Netherlands in the 10th match of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. This Group A encounter is taking place at Headingley on Wednesday.

Netherlands captain Babette de Leede won the toss and invited India to bat first. In response, India scored 209 runs, losing 5 wickets in the allotted overs. The partnership between Shefali Verma and Smriti Mandhana was remarkable, as they amassed 115 runs off 70 balls. Shefali scored 55 runs from 38 balls, including 10 boundaries.

Following her dismissal, Mandhana took charge alongside Jemimah Rodrigues. The duo added 47 runs for the second wicket in just 26 balls. India faced its second setback when Mandhana was out for 74 runs, hitting 1 six and 11 fours off 47 balls, on the last ball of the 16th over.

Immediately after, the team lost Rodrigues as well, who contributed 19 runs from 13 balls with 2 fours. India lost its fourth wicket when Yastika Bhatia was dismissed for 3 runs in the 17.1 over.

At this point, India had lost 4 wickets for a score of 168. Richa Ghosh (not out 20) then partnered with captain Harmanpreet Kaur (12) to add 31 runs for the fifth wicket in just 15 balls, propelling India to a substantial total. Deepti Sharma (not out 10) came in to play the last two balls, hitting a six and a four, helping India finish at 209/5.

For the Netherlands, Caroline de Lange was the standout bowler, taking 2 wickets, while Iris Zwilling, Heather Siegers, and Marthe van den Heuvel each claimed 1 wicket.

Under the captaincy of Harmanpreet Kaur, the Indian team featured Shefali Verma, Smriti Mandhana, Yastika Bhatia, Jemimah Rodrigues, Richa Ghosh (wicketkeeper), Deepti Sharma, Shreyanka Patil, Shree Charani, Kranti Gaud, and Nandini Sharma.

The Netherlands team included Heather Siegers, Phoebe Molkenboer, Babette de Leede (wicketkeeper/captain), Sterre Kalis, Robin Rijkaard, Frederique Overdijk, Iris Zwilling, Marthe van den Heuvel, Caroline de Lange, Silver Siegers, and Isabel Woning.
