New Delhi, June 23: India’s Ministry of External Affairs firmly dismissed Pakistan’s “false claims” that blamed India for the ongoing unrest in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
During a weekly media briefing, spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that the allegations made by Pakistan’s Defense Minister are baseless. He described them as an attempt by Islamabad to divert attention from its own failures and human rights violations.
“We completely reject these false and fabricated accusations from Pakistan. These statements are attempts to distract from Pakistan’s failures and human rights abuses,” he asserted.
Jaiswal explained that the protests in PoK are a direct result of Pakistan’s decades-long oppressive policies, which include economic exploitation, deprivation of fundamental rights, and administrative repression.
He further noted that Pakistan has resorted to police action, blocking supplies of essential goods and medicines, imposing internet shutdowns, and using force against civilians, leading to numerous fatalities.
The Ministry called on the international community to pay attention to the situation and hold Pakistan accountable for its human rights violations.
Previously, on June 9, Jaiswal had stated that Pakistan is attempting to conceal its shortcomings and divert attention from human rights violations through fake news and videos.
Reports indicate that clashes between security forces and protesters in the Rawalakot area of PoK have resulted in dozens of deaths and hundreds of injuries. Tensions escalated when the Pakistani administration declared the Joint Action Committee (JAC) a banned organization under anti-terrorism laws.
International human rights organizations and the Kashmiri diaspora have also expressed concern over these events, condemning the alleged atrocities against civilians and calling for international intervention.
