Chennai, August 27: Senior BJP leader H. Raja expressed deep sorrow over the recent tragedy in Nepal caused by unprecedented flooding. He stated that the Indian government is prepared to offer all necessary assistance to Nepal.
In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, H. Raja wrote, “The melting glaciers have led to extraordinary floods in major rivers like Gandaki, Trishuli, and Koshi, resulting in a significant natural disaster across the country.”
He noted that the scale of destruction has saddened people worldwide. Disturbing images of homes, commercial buildings, flyovers, main roads, and vehicles being swept away by the raging waters have emerged.
Raja reported that many lives have been lost, and several Nepali citizens and Indian tourists remain missing. Referring to travelers from Tamil Nadu, he mentioned that 57 individuals had traveled to Nepal. He said, “May God protect them all and ensure they return home safely.”
The BJP leader emphasized that the Indian government has expressed its readiness to provide every possible assistance to Nepal in managing the crisis and conducting relief and rescue operations. He added that many countries around the world have also shown concern and offered help to Nepal following the disaster.
Raja indicated that the central government is taking precautionary measures after warnings suggested that the floods in Nepal could affect Bihar, which shares a long border with the neighboring country. He stated that officials are closely monitoring the situation to mitigate the potential impact of rising water levels on residents in sensitive areas.
He called for solidarity with the flood-affected people of Nepal during this challenging time. Raja prayed for the swift recovery of the injured or displaced individuals and expressed hope that rescue teams would find the missing persons safely. He also extended condolences to families who have lost loved ones in the floods.
Raja concluded, “In this difficult time, we pray for the swift recovery of Nepal and its people. We also pray that the souls of those who lost their lives in this devastating natural disaster find peace.” He reiterated India’s commitment to stand by Nepal during this humanitarian crisis.
