Tokyo, July 18: Nagma Malik, India’s Ambassador to Japan, participated in the Japan-India Parliamentary Friendship League (JIPFL) general meeting held in Tokyo on Friday. During the meeting, she shared insights about the future goals established by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.
The Indian Embassy in Tokyo posted on social media platform ‘X’, stating, “The Ambassador informed league members about the successful Japan-India annual summit held earlier this month in New Delhi. She also highlighted the ambitious future goals set by Prime Ministers Modi and Takaichi. Both nations are preparing to celebrate the 75th anniversary of their diplomatic relations. On this occasion, the Ambassador emphasized the need to strengthen parliamentary exchanges and dialogues between the two countries to advance the Japan-India special strategic and global partnership.”
During her recent visit to India, Prime Minister Takaichi expressed her commitment to elevate India-Japan relations to new heights alongside Prime Minister Modi.
In the 16th India-Japan annual summit held at Hyderabad House in New Delhi earlier this month, the two leaders discussed several key aspects of their bilateral relations, including trade and investment, economic security, energy, new technologies, defense, and people-to-people connections. They also addressed regional and global issues of mutual interest.
Following the meeting, both leaders witnessed the exchange of several agreements and memoranda of understanding (MOUs) related to economic security, clean energy, critical technologies, and research and development.
During her visit to India, Prime Minister Takaichi noted that her supported initiative, the ‘Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP)’, aligns with Prime Minister Modi’s ‘Oceans’ initiative (Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions). Both aim to transform the Indo-Pacific region into a prosperous maritime zone where freedom and prosperity can thrive.
