New Delhi, February 6: India has once again demonstrated its dominance in youth cricket by securing its sixth ICC U19 World Cup title. On Friday, the Indian team defeated England by 100 runs in the final match, solidifying its status as the most successful team in the tournament’s history.
India has now won the U19 World Cup six times, with previous victories in 2000, 2008, 2012, 2018, and 2022. Australia follows with four titles.
The match showcased outstanding performances across all departments of the Indian team. Young explosive batsman Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was the star of the show, scoring an impressive 175 runs off just 80 balls. His innings included a record for the fastest 150 runs in U19 cricket history, achieved in just 71 balls. This remarkable performance helped India set a formidable total of 411 runs for nine wickets.
Despite a valiant effort from England’s Caleb Faulkner, who scored 115 runs, the team struggled to maintain momentum and was eventually bowled out for 311 runs.
This victory not only highlights India’s cricketing prowess but also reinforces its legacy in the U19 format.
