
Tashkent, October 4 (Daily Kiran) : Indian Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud met with Robakhon Makhmudova, the head of Uzbekistan’s Supreme Court, on October 4 in Tashkent. The two leaders discussed enhancing judicial cooperation between their countries and the effective use of artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technology within their judicial systems.
The Indian Embassy in Tashkent shared details of the bilateral meeting on social media, highlighting the focus on judicial collaboration. They also addressed the efficient implementation of AI and digital tools in the legal framework.
Earlier, on October 1, Chief Justice Chandrachud participated in the 7th Congress of Asian Constitutional Courts in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. During the conference, he actively engaged in discussions and delivered a speech on “Digitizing Justice: Charting the Supreme Court of India.”
In June, Chief Justice Chandrachud visited Russia, where he met Igor Krasnov, the head of the Supreme Court of Russia, in Moscow. During that meeting, he noted the distinct legal traditions of India and Russia but emphasized their shared challenge of maintaining public trust in the justice system amid rapidly changing global dynamics.
He pointed out the similarities between the two judicial systems, both serving vast and diverse societies. Chief Justice Chandrachud highlighted the increasing role of technology in the judicial process, stressing the need for responsible use to ensure public confidence in justice.
He remarked that the future of justice will depend on how technological innovations are integrated with enduring human values. While technology can enhance access to courts and improve efficiency, he insisted that the administration of justice must fundamentally remain a human endeavor.
