New Delhi, August 20: The Ministry of Finance announced on Thursday that India and Singapore have signed agreements focusing on maritime heritage, food security, and telecommunications. These agreements aim to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two nations.
In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, the Ministry revealed that the fourth India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable Meeting (ISMR) held in Singapore reviewed progress in six key areas of collaboration and explored new opportunities. These areas include advanced manufacturing, connectivity, digitalization, healthcare and medicine, skill development, and sustainability.
The post further emphasized the strong momentum of the India-Singapore partnership and reiterated the commitment to translate this into tangible outcomes, thereby strengthening a future-oriented and mutually beneficial economic partnership.
During the meeting, two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and one Letter of Intent (LoI) were exchanged between India and Singapore. These agreements encompass cooperation in maritime heritage, food security, and telecommunications.
The Ministry stated that these agreements will further enhance bilateral cooperation in various areas of mutual interest.
The fourth India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable Meeting (ISMR) was attended by Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Minister for External Affairs Dr. S. Jaishankar, Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal, and Minister of State for Electronics and IT and Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasada.
The Singapore delegation was led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong. Senior ministers including Minister for National Security K. Shanmugam, Foreign Minister Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Digital Development and Information Josephine Teo, and Minister for Transport and Minister of State for Finance Jeffrey Seah also participated in this roundtable.
