India and France Strengthen Strategic Partnership, Says PM Modi

Mumbai, February 17: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron virtually inaugurated the final assembly of Tata Airbus’s H125 light utility helicopter in Vemgal, Karnataka. During a joint press conference, PM Modi emphasized the unique relationship between India and France, noting that France is one of India’s oldest strategic partners. He stated that together with President Macron, they have infused unprecedented depth and energy into this strategic partnership.

PM Modi highlighted that the relationship between India and France is truly exceptional. Under President Macron’s leadership, they have provided remarkable depth and dynamism to their partnership. Built on mutual trust and a shared vision, they are elevating their relationship to a special global strategic partnership. This collaboration transcends mere strategy; it stands as a commitment to global stability and progress in these turbulent times.

He expressed pride that India and France will jointly manufacture the world’s only helicopter capable of flying to the heights of Mount Everest, which will also be exported globally.

The Prime Minister noted that the year 2026 marks a turning point in India-Europe relations. Recently, they signed the largest and most ambitious free trade agreement in India’s history with the European Union. This agreement is expected to bring unprecedented momentum to India-France relations as well.

Additionally, PM Modi announced the launch of Indo-French centers for AI in health, digital science and technology, and a National Center of Excellence for aeronautics skilling. These initiatives are platforms for future-building.

He concluded by stating that the world is currently facing uncertainty, and in this context, the India-France partnership serves as a force for global stability.
