
Lucknow, March 15: A senior assistant named Pradeep Srivastava, stationed at the Vikramjot Community Health Center in Basti district, Uttar Pradesh, has been suspended following the emergence of a video showing him accepting a bribe. The health department took immediate action after allegations surfaced that he demanded ₹45,000 in exchange for processing arrears payments for a retired Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM).
The video quickly gained traction on social media, prompting Uttar Pradesh’s Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister Brajesh Pathak to instruct officials to conduct an immediate investigation and take stringent action. Subsequently, Alka Verma, the Director of Administration for the Department of Medical Health and Family Welfare, issued the suspension order for the accused senior assistant.
According to departmental directives, during the suspension period, Pradeep Srivastava will be attached to the office of the Additional Director of Medical Health and Family Welfare in the Chitrakoot Dham Mandal, Banda. Additionally, departmental disciplinary proceedings against him have been initiated.
Reports indicate that Sunita, an ANM working under the Vikramjot Community Health Center, recently retired. The process for her dues and arrears payments was underway when Srivastava allegedly demanded the bribe. The victim managed to record the bribery incident with the help of her brother, and the video was later shared on social media, sparking widespread discussion.
Following the video’s release, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak took the matter seriously and directed officials to enforce strict measures. Consequently, the department suspended the accused employee and initiated a thorough departmental investigation.
Health department officials have stated that the inquiry has been assigned to the Additional Director of Medical Health and Family Welfare in the Chitrakoot Dham Mandal, Banda. If found guilty, the employee will face severe disciplinary action.
