Samastipur, February 10: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is making significant strides towards establishing a space station and launching the Gaganyaan mission, according to Program Director Mohammad Imtiaz Ahmed.
During a press conference in Samastipur on Monday, marking the golden jubilee of India’s first indigenous satellite, Aryabhata, Ahmed shared insights into ISRO’s ongoing projects. These include Earth observation, Navigation with Indian Constellation (NavIC), Indian Data Relay Satellite System (IDRS), the Gaganyaan mission, and the Venus Orbiter mission.
In celebration of Aryabhata’s anniversary, ISRO is organizing special programs for students in select schools across the country. The first event in Bihar took place on Monday at Holy Mission High School in Samastipur, where students from five different Plus Two schools participated. The program aimed to inform students about ISRO’s activities and future opportunities in the space sector.
Ahmed emphasized that the initiative seeks to inspire children towards science and technology. He stated, “We are telling children that while space technology is challenging, students from rural and Hindi-medium backgrounds can also reach ISRO and lead major projects. Language is no longer a barrier. I myself am a product of Hindi medium. If children have a strong foundation, they learn quickly.”
He also mentioned that various competitions are being held among students, which are enhancing their curiosity. Following the successes of the Chandrayaan and Aditya-L1 missions, there is notable enthusiasm among children for ISRO. He added, “Children in Bihar have a natural interest in mathematics, which can help them advance in the field of space science.”
