Imran Masood Faces Setback as Son-in-Law Shayan Masood Joins Samajwadi Party

Lucknow, August 21: A significant blow has struck Congress MP Imran Masood from Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh. His son-in-law, Shayan Masood, has left Congress to join the Samajwadi Party (SP). After joining the SP, Shayan Masood shared a song in support of SP President Akhilesh Yadav on the social media platform X.

The Samajwadi Party announced on its social media that Shayan Masood, along with his father-in-law and other associates, met with National President Akhilesh Yadav in Lucknow after taking party membership. This development is seen as a major setback for Congress ahead of the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.

Shayan Masood, now an SP leader, stated that the Samajwadi Party is performing well across the state. He noted the growing acceptance of the party, expressing enthusiasm among the public for a change in Uttar Pradesh. He emphasized their commitment to advancing the party’s ideology and aims to deliver strong results in western Uttar Pradesh.

In response to Akhilesh Yadav’s statements, Shayan Masood remarked that Akhilesh is one of the most visionary and progressive leaders in Uttar Pradesh. He highlighted that during Akhilesh’s tenure from 2012 to 2017, the initiatives he implemented have not been matched by the current BJP government. Whether it was distributing laptops, bicycles, or developing infrastructure projects, he claimed the current administration has only attempted to replicate those efforts. However, he added, “It takes intelligence to imitate, and they lack that as well.”
