Saharanpur, August 27: Congress MP Imran Masood recently shared his views on several pressing issues, including the cancellation of the Samajwadi Party’s rally, Akhilesh Yadav’s controversial ‘chavanni’ statement, the Yogi government’s initiatives, law and order in Uttar Pradesh, and the floods in Nepal. He emphasized that every political party has its own agenda and the right to operate accordingly.
Regarding the cancellation of the Samajwadi Party’s rally, Masood stated that it was a matter for the party itself, suggesting questions should be directed to them. On Akhilesh Yadav’s ‘chavanni’ remark, he noted that the leader merely reiterated a previous statement, asserting that it did not insult any particular community.
When asked if Yadav would face consequences for his statement, Masood remarked that such predictions hold little significance in politics. He reiterated that each party has its agenda and conducts politics in its own way.
In response to the Supreme Court’s comments on the SIR and voter list issues in West Bengal, Masood stated that if the court believes an error has occurred, it has the authority to take action. He questioned why the Supreme Court should only inquire and not issue orders.
On the Yogi government’s employment and startup initiatives for women, Masood stressed that these plans must yield visible results on the ground. He criticized the government for its delayed recognition of women’s issues, suggesting that economic assistance plans announced before elections often change post-election. He labeled this practice as detrimental to democracy.
Commenting on the Samajwadi Party’s promise to provide women with ₹40,000 annually if they come to power, he acknowledged that the party likely conducted its research before making such a declaration.
On Mayawati’s criticisms of the BJP, Masood highlighted the ongoing ideological struggle in the country, positioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi against Rahul Gandhi as the main political figures. He noted that several opposition parties, including the Samajwadi Party, stand alongside Gandhi. In response to the Samajwadi Party’s claim of a direct battle with the BJP, Masood asserted that a broader ideological fight is underway, with Gandhi leading the charge against the BJP.
Regarding Mayawati’s decision to contest elections independently, Masood argued that it has weakened the Bahujan movement and pointed out the declining political influence of the BSP. He also raised concerns about atrocities against Dalits in Uttar Pradesh and questioned Mayawati’s praise for the BJP.
In light of the recent murder of singer Ankit Baliyan, Masood sarcastically remarked on the law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh, claiming it is quite good.
Addressing the ATS’s questioning of suspects and statewide search operations, he alleged that these actions might be politically motivated. He expressed concern that some individuals could be arrested on terrorism charges, only to be released later by the court, but not before their lives are significantly impacted.
Masood expressed deep sorrow over the floods and devastation in Nepal, warning of the severe consequences of tampering with nature and water flow. He referred to disturbing videos related to the Mansarovar pilgrimage, calling them deeply unsettling.
