Government Accelerates Development in 100 Aspirational Agricultural Districts Under PM-DDKY Scheme

New Delhi, October 10 (Daily Kiran) : The Prime Minister Dhan-Dhan Agriculture Scheme (PM-DDKY) is set to complete its first year on October 11, 2026. According to a fact sheet released by the government on Saturday, the initiative aims to develop 100 aspirational agricultural districts through targeted interventions.

By addressing the specific needs of each district, the scheme seeks to boost agricultural productivity, improve irrigation, enhance access to credit, and strengthen post-harvest infrastructure.

The Central Cabinet approved PM-DDKY on July 16, 2025, for a six-year period. Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially launched the scheme on October 11, 2025.

Implementation involves coordination among 11 ministries and departments, 36 central schemes, state government initiatives, and private sector participation. This collaborative approach helps tailor actions to local agricultural priorities.

The PM-DDKY dashboard was launched in the last week of October 2025, with monthly output indicators starting in November 2025 to rank the districts. This system allows for effective monitoring of progress across the 100 districts.

As noted in the fact sheet, all 100 districts have developed District Agriculture Plans (DAPs), which are currently being executed. Committees at the state, district, and national levels have been formed for review and monitoring. By August 2026, all districts submitted output indicator data, including results for the fiscal year 2025-26.

Central nodal officers are regularly reviewing progress and providing guidance to the districts. The Department of Public Enterprises has included the adoption of DDKY districts under corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities for the fiscal years 2026-27 and 2027-28.

The average score of the 100 districts based on six objectives improved from 18.85 in April 2026 to 46.89 in August 2026, reflecting a significant enhancement of 28.04 points.

Additionally, the first year of the scheme has facilitated platforms for farmers and Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) to share experiences and explore new opportunities.

In December 2025, a PM-DDKY FPO summit brought together over 72 FPOs from 15 states and 33 districts. Participants exchanged insights on increasing agricultural productivity, market access, and improving farmers’ incomes. Topics discussed included natural farming, oilseeds, beekeeping, protected cultivation, micro-irrigation, institutional finance, and digital agriculture.
