
Igatpuri, October 10 (Daily Kiran) : A devastating accident occurred on the Mumbai-Nashik highway in Maharashtra, claiming the lives of a couple in the new Kasara Ghat area. The incident unfolded when a container toppled, revealing the bodies of the victims trapped beneath it during the removal process.
The deceased have been identified as Jalinder Bhagat and Anusaya Bhagat, residents of Ghoti. Reports indicate that the couple was en route to attend a religious ceremony when the accident took place.
Around 11 AM on Friday, the driver lost control of the container on a sharp curve in the new Kasara Ghat. The vehicle overturned, and at the time, no one noticed the motorcycle and the couple trapped underneath.
The grim discovery was made the day after the accident, as authorities began to clear the container. A foul odor prompted the disaster management team to investigate further. Using a crane, they lifted the container and found the couple’s bodies.
Emergency responders, including the disaster management team and local police, rushed to the scene to initiate recovery efforts. The bodies were subsequently sent to the Kasara primary health center for post-mortem examinations.
This tragic incident has once again raised serious concerns about the movement of heavy vehicles and road safety in the hilly region. The police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
It is alarming that the couple’s bodies lay unnoticed for several hours beneath the overturned container until it was removed. Authorities are now focused on uncovering the details of this heartbreaking event.
