Metro and Rail Services Fully Restored in Delhi Following Protests

New Delhi, October 10 (Daily Kiran) : All metro and rail services in New Delhi have been fully restored following the lifting of restrictions imposed due to protests by the Cockroach Public Party (CJP). The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced this development on Saturday night via a post on social media platform X.

According to DMRC, all entry and exit gates at metro stations are now open, and interchange facilities are available at all relevant stations. Additionally, Indian Railways confirmed that train services will resume their regular schedules starting from midnight on October 11.

Previously, DMRC had reported that 45 metro stations, closed for security reasons at 9:00 PM on Friday, would remain shut until 10:00 PM on October 10. Security agencies were tasked with reviewing the situation and providing updates as necessary.

The Delhi administration initially announced the closure of 57 metro stations due to the anticipated protests. However, a Supreme Court directive on Friday stated that metro services should not be completely halted in light of the planned demonstrations.

The court urged the central government to ensure that metro and railway services continue in a controlled and organized manner to minimize inconvenience for the public.

Following this directive, DMRC issued a revised advisory indicating that the entry and exit gates of the 45 affected stations would remain closed for a specified duration for safety reasons.

The metro stations most impacted by the protests included Janpath, Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat, Lok Kalyan Marg, Rajiv Chowk, New Delhi, Seva Tirth, Mandi House, Barakhamba Road, ITO, Delhi Gate, Khan Market, Ramakrishna Ashram Marg, Jhandewalan, Supreme Court, Indraprastha, Shivaji Stadium, Delhi Haat-INA, Hauz Khas, Jor Bagh, Lajpat Nagar, Jungpura, Ashram, Jamia Millia Islamia, Chawri Bazar, Jama Masjid, Karol Bagh, Rajendra Place, University, Kashmiri Gate, Indralok, Guru Tegh Bahadur Nagar, Netaji Subhash Place, Azadpur, Jahangirpuri, Haiderpur Badli Mor, Majlis Park, Seelampur, Maujpur-Babarpur, Jafrabad, Welcome, Yamuna Vihar, Khajuri Khas, Shahdara, and Rithala.
